Vicky’s Heart
A Non-Profit Organization dedicated to providing handmade items of comfort to communities in need
Where Vicky’s Heart grew:
Victoria “Vicky” Mejia is the inspiration behind Vicky’s Heart.
To know Vicky was to know love. It overflowed in everything she did. She was “at the ready” to cook a warm meal for whomever came by and she was “arms wide open” for the creature that needed loving attention. She was there for all of it.
Vicky passed away suddenly on November 11, 2023 and left behind her husband Julio, daughter Angelina, and son Andrew, among countless others who loved and adored her. This non-profit organization was founded by her family and sister-in-law Gloriana as a way to help keep Vicky’s loving presence alive via handmade gifts of comfort that will be given to members of the community that find themselves in need. With each donation, we all feel a spiritual embrace that Vicky would have loved to give to the world.
How does it work?
Vicky’s Heart is headquartered out of the Pensacola Retreat Center in Pensacola, Fl, owned by Vicky’s Sister-in-Law Gloriana.
With connections to a multitude of non-profit organizations nationwide, combined with access to a creative space that is perfect for fabricating donations, Gloriana has been able to dedicate a corner of the center solely to Vicky’s Heart. This area will be stocked with materials, notions, and patterns for members of the community and/or patrons of her classes and retreats to obtain the items needed to make donations and bring them back so that they may be given as a group donation on behalf of Vicky’s Heart.
Each month, the Pensacola Retreat Center will sponsor a specific organization to focus their collection efforts on, though anyone can donate any item of any kind to any organization of their choosing whenever they’d like. Glo will find a place for it all! Please see our 2025 Focused Donation Schedule before by Quarter:

The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.
All month long we will be collecting red, white, and blue fabric donations as well as handing out QOV-approved patterns for makers in the area to work on either QOV quilt blocks, quilts, or even helping to finish with binding so that the quilt may be donated to members in our community. Warm Up America! was founded in 1991 by Evie Rosen. It is committed to motivating, training, and coordinating volunteers to knit and crochet afghans and clothing to people in need. Volunteers may make and donate 7” and 9” squares that will later be joined by another set of volunteers that will weave them together as blanket donations in their community.
